 WHAT TO EXPECT

The installation of granite countertops is a very exciting project for a homeowner. We are committed to exceeding your expectations and will do our best to insure that every step of the process run smoothly. We believe that knowing what to expect as your project progresses is important, so please take the time to review the information below. Thank you for considering Imported Stone.

PRE-INSTALLATION

In most cases, your new countertops will be installed 1-3 weeks from the time a sales agreement is signed and a deposit is made. Items such as cabinets not being set in place, sink or cook top not being available, or delivery of special order stone could delay a project.

Measuring/Template
Imported Stone will come to your home to take exact measurements. This step is extremely important to the final quality of the project. To insure accuracy, if you are having new cabinets installed, they must be in place prior to your template being created.

Seams
In most cases, countertop layouts require that at least one seam be used during the installation process. We will discuss the location of any seams necessary when we come to your home to measure your countertop.

Sinks
Most homeowners choose an under mount sink to go along with their granite countertops. For your convenience, we have several styles of high quality stainless steel sinks available. You may choose to purchase a sink elsewhere, which is fine. However, we will need to have the sink in our shop before fabrication begins. You will also need to inform us as to the style of faucet that will be installed as well as any additional items such as soap/lotion dispenser or water purification spigot.

Plumbing
On installation day, we will be disconnecting the hot and cold water supply from your sink, the garbage disposal and drain. Your new sink will be installed with the countertop. The adhesive used to secure the sink must cure prior to the plumbing being reconnected. Therefore, it is recommended that plumbing connections be made the day following countertop installation. Your existing garbage disposal can be reconnected, however, if it is an older one, this would be a good time to consider replacement. To insure that the faucet holes are drilled properly, it is important that you have your faucet at your home when we install your counters. If you need a plumber, we have one that we can recommend. His pricing is very competitive; he does good work and will be billing you directly for his service. Let us know if you would like his name and number.

Scheduling the Installation
We try to schedule our installations about one week in advance and will call you to set a target date. Let us know if you have any special day/time requirements so that we can schedule your installation accordingly.  You will receive a confirmation call two days prior to installation. Most installations take about 4 hours to complete.

INSTALLATION DAY

Imported Stone will do everything in its power to insure that the installation of your new granite countertops is a positive experience for you, our valued customer. In most all cases, the installation will be started and completed that same day. As mentioned earlier, if there is plumbing that needs to be reconnected, we recommend that this be scheduled for the day following countertop installation.

Preparing for Your New Granite Countertops
If you have existing countertops that we will be removing, please remove all personal items from them prior to our install team arriving.  We also ask that you remove any items from under your sink and cook top. Our installers are trusted and conscientious employees, but accidents can happen. With that said, it’s a good idea to move any items that may be in the way prior to the project beginning. If you need help, our installers will be glad to assist and advise you.

Old Countertops
We will remove your existing countertops and sink, and will hall them away for you. Should you want to keep them, just let us know where to place them after removal.

Dust/Dirt
With the nature of granite and the steps involved in the installation process, there is a good chance of some dust being created.  We will do our best to keep it to a minimum, however please be aware that the installation process isn't dust free.
